Have you heard of Park Run?
Chances are there is a Park Run not far from your home.
Park Run started in the UK and is now global.
It is a 5 km run that starts at 8 AM on Saturday mornings and is run by volunteers.
A friend invited me to the Auckland based Park-Run in Owairaka last Saturday.
I was not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised!
220 people gathered on a crisp August morning in Owairaka Park.
The volunteers explained the course before the start.
There was a wide range of joggers to serious runners pacing their timing.
We ran beside a local creek and over a bridge.
I am training for a half-marathon, so it was perfect motivation to get me in gear.
The run was about 30 minutes.
After the run we went for a coffee in a local cafe.
Park Run participants get 10% off at the local cafe.
It was fun socialising with people.
Park Run was well worth it - setting me up for a great Saturday.
Because it was so great - I joined the Western Springs Park Run this morning.
I highly recommend Park Run.
