Have you ever tried to quit coffee?
Have you been successful in reducing how much you drink?
Coffee lovers, do I sound insane for even suggesting such an idea?
(Yes, I here you say...)
I have just done 9 days without drinking coffee!
This is the first time in years I have achieved this.
I have tried stopping in the past, but I could only last 2-3 days.
I want to share my tips for how I’ve done it so far.
Exercise
Every morning I have been to the gym or a run. I have done 30-45 minutes of exercise each morning. This way I am woken up naturally. The desire to have a coffee is less.
Alternatives
I desperately craved alternative drinks, so I had black tea, chai tea, and chamomile tea.
Other drinks you could try are matcha tea, orange juice, smoothie, or decaf coffee.
Body Detox
I recently did a body detox by drinking 16 glasses of warm salty water. This flushed out my system. Afterward, I naturally didn't want coffee because of the thought it would affect my digestive system. Click on this link to follow a detox method I used.
Will power
I read a great blog on the Brisbane Meditation page about willingness to change.
It explains how you have to want to change and how meditation can help give you the strength to change. You can read it here.
Gradual Reduction
I also asked Chat GPT for ideas and this is what it said:
Gradual Reduction: Gradually reducing coffee intake over time is often the most effective way to break a coffee addiction. This allows the body to adjust to lower levels of caffeine gradually and reduces the likelihood of withdrawal symptoms.
Benefits
The most amazing feeling is how comfortable I feel. I feel calmer.
The jittery sensations in my body are not there and in the afternoons I don’t get as tired.
The game is not over though, I wouldn't mind one right now...
How have you reduced your coffee intake?
Super tips, thanks for sharing!!
Hey, you did it :) well done! You got me curious about the warm water detox now too 😀
Watch out for decaf - it can be worse than caffeinated coffee 😲
