Northcote boasts a new tree top walkway through Kauri Glen Reserve.

Having been a local in this area for some years, it was cool to visit the new treetop walk in the neighbourhood.

Where Is It?

Kauri Glen Reserve can be accessed from Kauri Glen Road in Northcote. Kauri Glen Road is off Onewa Road (the main road from the northern motorway). There are other entrances, such as Tui Glen Road.

Parking is on a residential road (Kauri Glen Road). I arrived about midday Sunday and there were a lot of people at that time, so I needed to park up the road from the entrance. I imagine it would be a lot quieter during the week or early morning.

What Is It?

The tree tops walk is an easy 20 minute round trip. However, the reserve is large with other tracks that one could spend a lot of time in!

Kauri Glen Reserve is a large bush area on Auckland's North Shore with walking tracks in different directions and in good condition.

It was great to escape the city life in this lovely, big sanctuary.

Is It Free?

Yes, free! Anyone can walk into the reserve.
