How To Get Your Music On Spotify & How Much You Will Be Paid - A Basic Guide

Writer's picture: David CloustonDavid Clouston

I had been wanting to put my music on Spotify for a long time.

I succeeded this week by subscribing to a music distributer (a distributor is an organization that sends your music to major stores like Spotify).

Now my song is available on Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, iHeartRadio, Facebook, Apple Music, etc.

It wasn’t as difficult as I thought.

Nowadays, there are many online music distributors.

I researched different distributors by listening to YouTube reviews before settling on one called LANDR.

LANDR charges US$24 per year for a basic plan and pays 100% royalties.

Making my account took about 10 minutes to set up.

Uploading my song and filling in composer/producer details, cover art took about 5 minutes per song.

It appeared on Spotify about 3 days later.

LANDR distributes to the following major stores:

HOW MUCH DO I EARN PER STREAM?

Below is an approximate summary of what an artist can earn through social media, YouTube & Spotify.

*Please note, I sourced this from Google and a YouTube clip dated July 2023.

Spotify

1,000 streams = $4

1,000,000 streams = $4,000

YouTube Music

1,000 streams = $4

1,000,000 Streams = $4,000

TikTok

334 Streams = $1

1,000,000 Streams = $2,994

Facebook

33,334 Streams = $1

1,000,000 Streams =$30

Instagram

290,000 Streams = $1

1,000,000 Streams = $4

TikTok pays the most out of the social media platforms, while Spotify and YouTube Music pay more as they are music providers.

Hope this helped an artist! 🙏
